KELLY SLATER (Surfers of Fortune)

The sun is shining and the crystal clear blue waves are fanned
by a light offshore breeze.
You see a four-foot set approaching and, as if in slow
motion, you turn and paddle.
As the wave begins to take you, you rise to your feet in a
fluid motion. Your board
glides out onto an open face.
You stretch out your arm, tracing your fingers in the
glassy wall. You can just
hear the rest of the lineup hooting in the background
spurring you on. As time
speeds up with you, you accelerate down the face of the wave.
You feel as if you are flying, your heart racing as
the power of the wave carries you on.
When the ride finishes, you’re shaking all over with
excitement and adrenalin.
You can’t wait to paddle back out into the lineup, eager to
re-live that moment again.
Welcome to Bali... |

My name is Putu Sumerta.
I hope to be your surf guide/instructor during
your stay in Bali.
I have lived and surfed in Bali my whole life.
All in all, I have over twenty years surfing
experience.
I was a senior surf instructor at Rip Curl School of
Surf for four years before becoming independent.
I am qualified to Australian surfing instructor
standards. I
have a bronze level for Lifesaving Surf Rescue, Advanced
Resuscitation and Senior First Aid International
Standard. I
speak English, Indonesian and Balinese (and will try to
learn whatever new language you teach me!).
Over the years, I have taught surfers—of
all ages—from as far afield as Australia, America, South
Africa, Russia, Europe and Japan.
Simply put, my surf “program” is individually designed
depending on what you want and what you can do.
I offer surf safaris for experienced surfers, and
surf lessons for beginners to intermediates.
But this does not mean that only the experienced
surfers get to explore Bali’s many breaks.
Every day I will transport you to the best wave
of the day for your ability, no matter whereabouts that
is on the island.
I guarantee that after one week of surf with me (unless
there is no surf at all—really unlikely!), if you’re a
complete beginner you will be able to surf small
unbroken waves, if you’re a progressing surfer you will
have improved greatly, and if you’re an experienced
surfer you will have scored some epic waves. |
